Community Applications are live!

Texas A&M University’s Texas Target Communities Program (TxTC) is seeking small towns/cities with populations less than 15,000 and rural counties interested in technical assistance on strategic planning, development projects, conceptual designs, Public Space and Small-Scale Design, assessments and studies, or resiliency planning. Every January, we invite communities to submit project proposals and letters of interest to work with our program. Project proposals can include collaborative, community-engaged initiatives to develop strategies to local challenges.

Selection Criteria

A partner community is selected based on the quality of the application and the commitment to increase the local capacity of the six core community competencies: social, economic, natural, civic, human, and physical (as seen in our Philosophy). We intend to offer opportunities for lower-capacity communities. We believe low-capacity communities have the resources to harness assets, build effective projects, and host transformative initiatives from within. The local partner is expected to contribute resources, invest time, and uphold collaborative efforts to support project intentions.
